Cirque du Soleil's TOTEM To Soar Over Port Of Los Angeles

A yellow and blue big top can only mean one thing, Cirque du Soleil is coming to town. Opening on Oct. 11, TOTEM will be visiting the Port of Los Angeles.

Cirque du Soleil is not your regular circus. It is known for its acrobatic beauty, artistic story lines and inspiring athleticism. TOTEM will take you on a magical evolution of the human species and man's desire to fly in a way only Cirque can tell.

A totem is defined as a being, object or symbol representing an animal or plant that serves as an emblem of a group of people. The 90-minute show explores our connection to wildlife. In the first act, "Bars", we are transported to a marshland where a giant turtle sits center stage. Life starts here. Peel the layers of the shell to expose a unity of amphibians. They take life and leap across the air from bar to bar.

Other acts include American Indian artists performing native dances, performers contorting their bodies and hand balancing and artists swinging on trapezes. By the end of TOTEM's colorful journey, we are taking on the flight of our life.
