Lancaster Transient, 21, Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Annoyance
LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday said they have arrested a 21-year-old transient from Lancaster on suspicion of child annoyance.
Jahlay Thompson is accused of approaching and attempting to induce a 12-year-old girl to come with him as she walked to El Dorado School about 8:04 a.m. Friday, according to a statement issued by the Lancaster Sheriff's Station.
The alleged incident on East Pondera Avenue near El Dorado Park was reportedly witnessed but not heard by a school custodian, who grew concerned for the student's safety, deputies said.
"The witness saw the victim was clearly upset and scared and walked her to school where law enforcement was contacted," the statement said.
Thompson was arrested at the scene without incident. He is being held at the Lancaster Station Jail on $150,000 bail.
Additional patrols have since been assigned to the area, deputies said.
