Teen Suffers Major Leg Injuries After Driver Runs Red Light In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Two bicyclists, including a 13-year-old girl, suffered injuries Monday afternoon after a driver ran a red light in Long Beach.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. at Fourth Street and Alamitos Avenue.

Authorities said a Lexus traveling north on Alamitos didn't stop at a red light and hit another car in the intersection.

The motorist then veered toward a sidewalk, where he struck the teen girl and a male cyclist.

The girl was pinned between the vehicle and a business and suffered critical leg injuries.

The other victim was also hurt, but not seriously.

The driver was cited and released.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call Long Beach police Det. R. Birdsall at (562) 570-7355.
