Police Searching For Costa Mesa ATM Thief

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — Police are looking for a man who lifted an ATM machine from a Costa Mesa liquor store Wednesday without any help.

Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott told City News Service the unidentified suspect walked into Bay Crest Liquor at 333 E. 17th St. at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The suspect was reportedly seen loading the free-standing machine into a silver Toyota Tacoma with paper plates before driving away from the scene.

Police say the suspect was wearing a hoodie.

According NCR Corporation, a global consumer transaction technologies firm that provides ATM machines, they can weigh approximately 300 to over 1500 pounds depending on the model.

Investigators are not aware of how much cash was in the machine.
