Man Caught On Camera Allegedly Stealing $20K In Jewelry From Long Beach Antique Mall

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A man was allegedly caught on camera stealing $20,000 worth of jewelry from an antique mall in Long Beach.

Andrew Jurkiewicz, the owner of the Long Beach Antique Mall, said his security video shows a man constantly peeking down aisles of the store to keep a close eye on employees as he took rare goods from a locked case last Tuesday.

"Almost 20 years of business and we've never had anything like this before," he told KCAL9's Stacey Butler.

Jurkiewicz said the man picked two locks from the glass case and managed to lift one side of the door out completely, leaving no fingerprints behind. He then left the store with his pockets filled.

"He knew what he was doing," said Jurkiewicz.

Authorities said an antique shop in Torrance was also hit in the exact manor. It's unknown if it's connected to the incident in Long Beach.

In addition, police said Jurkiewicz's second antique mall across the street was the target of an unrelated robbery on Tuesday.
