2 Killed, 1 Critically Injured In Hyde Park Drive-By Shooting

HYDE PARK (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed and one person was critically injured in a drive-by shooting Tuesday afternoon in Hyde Park.

Capt. Tom McMullen of the Los Angeles Police Department said a group of men were standing in front of the 1700 block of West 27th Street around 4 p.m. when a vehicle drove by and shots were fired.

Two victims, described to be in their mid-20s, were initially struck with gunfire. They died at the scene.

A third victim, also in his mid-20s, was shot as he fled southbound. He was taken to the hospital.

McMullen said the incident appears to be gang-related.

"The area where the victims were hanging out is a specific gang area," he said.

McMullen, however, did not know if the victims were affiliated with a gang.

A description of a suspect(s) has not been released.

No other information was immediately available.
