LA Doctor, 58, Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Female Patients

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 58-year-old doctor was sentenced Monday for sexually exploiting female patients in a Los Angeles exam room.

Dr. Steve Leong was sentenced to one month in jail, five years' probation, 30 days of Caltrans work and psychiatric counseling after he pleaded no contest to four misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and four misdemeanor counts of sexual exploitation. He will also be required to make a $2,500 charitable donation.

Leong was arrested at his Arcadia home May 31.

Sheriff's deputies said the victims, all Spanish-speaking women, reported that the doctor took them into an examination room at Claude Hudson Medical Center, located at 2829 S. Grand Avenue, and forcefully kissed and grabbed them.

Detectives said the alleged assaults took place from Dec. 2010 to Feb. 2013.

A judge ordered Leong to keep away from witnesses and victims in the case. He's also not allowed to see female patients, according to city attorney's office spokesman Frank Mateljan.
