Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 23)

STUDIO CITY (CBS2) — It's going to be another warm day inland as temperatures will hover near 100.  Look for some patchy clouds this morning and clearing very early.

It's going to be a quiet end to this work week today, but things do get interesting over the weekend.

Late yesterday Tropical Depression 9-E formed and will eventually push to the north and west.  As it moves into some warmer waters it may very well become a tropical storm.

We are expecting some remnants of this tropical system to push into the area by Sunday.

Right now it looks like most of the energy will be on the eastern edge of our viewing area but some of that action could sneak into the metro area.  So we'll have to call it a chance for a shower and thunderstorm from Sunday into early Tuesday.

Basin - mid 80s

Beaches - mid 70s

Valleys - upper 90s to near 100

Mountains - upper 70s

Deserts - near 100
