YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — A manhunt was underway in Yorba Linda Thursday for a residential burglary suspect witnesses say fled the scene in a boot cast.

The Orange County Sheriff’s SWAT team set up a perimeter near Village Center and Vista Laguna after the suspect was spotted escaping from a house in Vista del Amigo after allegedly breaking in.

Investigators say the suspect should be easy to spot because he has a bad leg and was reportedly wearing a large walking boot.

“Based on the witness description of the suspect having been wearing the boot cast, deputies felt that he probably did not get very far very fast. Hence a large response from the Sheriff’s Department and the SWAT team,” Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Jeff Hallock said.

The OCSD says multiple witnesses have confirmed the suspect is a dark-skinned male wearing a walking boot. They believe he is aged 25-30, wearing black shorts and a white shirt.

A man matching that description was seen by a witness in area of Yorba Linda Boulevard and La Palma, according to investigators.

A witness also reported seeing the suspect across the Santa Ana Riverbed at Costco in Savi Ranch. Deputies raced to the scene but the suspect was not found.
