Stepfather Sentenced To 6 Years For Molesting 10-Year-Old Daughter

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A stepfather was sentenced to six years in jail for molesting his 10 year-old stepdaughter on repeated occasions over the past three years, the City Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

The defendant, who was not named, entered a plea of no contest to seven counts of child molestation, one count of penetration with a foreign object and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 18.

He has been sentenced to six years in county jail and four years probation.

The man will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and is prohibited from being in contact with the victim for a 10 year period.

Authorities were contacted after pornography was allegedly discovered on a cell phone belonging to the defendant which the victim had taken to school on February 6.

The victim alleged abuse had taken place repeatedly over the past three years, as late as January 2013.

She was subsequently removed from the home by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services and remains in foster care.

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer applauded the "extraordinary courage" of the young girl in coming forward and vowed to continue to fight for victims of sexual molestation.

"I pledge my office will continue to take swift action to stop abuse and find justice and relief for all victims," Feuer said.

Deputy City Attorney Lara Drino Schwartz prosecuted the case.
