Shooting Suspect Killed By Police In Exposition Park

EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — A suspect Tuesday was fatally shot by police after he allegedly injured a woman in South Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a shots fired call around 9:25 a.m. at 41st Street and Normandie Avenue.

"When the officers arrived, they went to the rear of the location, and they encountered a male — Black, approximately 70 years old — and he was armed with a handgun and an officer-involved shooting did occur," Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz said.

Police then located a woman, believed to be in her 70s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the ear.

The suspect and the victim were both transported to local hospitals, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman was in stable condition, according to Sandoz.

No officers were injured.
