1 Killed In Officer-Involved Shooting In South Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in the city of South Pasadena.

The shooting occurred about 1:01 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Arroyo Verde Road.

Investigators say the suspect was armed and confronted the off-duty California State University, Los Angeles police officer.

Following the officer-involved shooting, authorities say the suspect initially fled in a vehicle before crashing into a parked car nearby.

The suspect was detained and subsequently taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officer, who suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene by first responders.

Authorities said the suspect's handgun was recovered at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
