Former Soap Vixen Creates Kickstarter Campaign To Create Sitcom Pilot
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Victoria Rowell, who played spitfire Drucilla Winters on CBS's "The Young and the Restless" from 1990-2007, has created a Kickstarter campaign for a sitcom pilot.
"Think of it as a cross between 'Soap Dish' and 'The Office,'" Rowell says.
The pilot for "The Rich and the Ruthless" is "inspired" by Rowell's long and Emmy-nominated tenure on the CBS soap.
So popular was Rowell during her run on "Y&R," CBS also showcased her at night from 1993-2002 on prime time's "Diagnosis Murder"
Rowell -- also a best-selling author -- is trying to raise $50,000 for the pilot and is accepting as little as $1 from fans.
"Rich and Ruthless" -- in which she will appear and also executive produce -- is described as "a multicultural soap opera about a soap opera. All the mayhem that goes on behind the bubbles."
She's also adding socially-relevant elements. An advocate for fellow foster children, Rowell says two of the show's characters in her pilot are adopted.
"A recurring theme in my projects," Rowell says.
