Abducted Teen Safe, Suspect Killed By FBI Agent

SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — Officials say kidnap suspect James Lee DiMaggio is dead and that 16-year-old teen Hannah Anderson is safe.

Officials in San Diego confirmed that DiMaggio was killed by authorities in Idaho.

Friday evening, the Sheriff's Crime Laboratory in San Diego positively identified the remains of a second body found in a burned out home as 8-year-old Ethan Anderson, Hannah's brother.

Officials said the boy's identity was ascertained through DNA analysis using the victim's bone marrow.

The boy's mother, Christina Anderson, was also found dead in the burned out home on Sunday.

At a press conference Saturday, San Diego Sheriff William Gore said Hannah's father, Brett Anderson, was "elated" to learn his daughter was found alive.

Sheriff Gore said DiMaggio was killed by an FBI agent who was attempting to make an arrest.

Hannah Anderson will reportedly be reunited with her father on Sunday.

Brett Anderson previously said the children thought of DiMaggio as "an uncle."
