Robbery Suspect In Custody Following High-Speed Chase

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Officials say a robbery suspect was chased on various freeways Friday evening.

The chase started in the San Bernardino area near Upland, said officials.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, initially said police were pursuing a forgery suspect.

Officials did say they unsuccessfully tried a PITT maneuver on the suspect.

The vehicle -- a small black SUV -- was moving often at speeds of 100 mph, according to Mundel.

The SUV's bumper sustained obvious damage during the PITT attempt.

The speed of the chase slowed as the driver switched over to the 134 in the Studio City area.

During the chase, officials said the forgery suspect was actually a robbery suspect believed to have held up a Walgreens.

The chase ended, after about 40 minutes, when the driver went into a dead end on a surface street in Reseda.
