A 6-year-old skateboarding Chihuahua named Chiquita is now available for a forever home.

Her owners brought Chiquita to the shelter due to financial problems, said Evelina Villa of Los Angeles County Animal Care.

The owner explained to the center’s staff that Chiquita has an unusual desire to ride her skateboard whenever she can, department director Marcia Mayeda said.

Staff members describe the dog as shy and gentle, Villa said. She is currently being fostered to help her build confidence with people.

“Chiquita is so comfortable on her skateboard,” Mayeda said. “We’re certain she will make the perfect pet for the right person or family.”

Those interested in adopting Chiquita may call (626) 962-3577 or email daccevents@animalcare.lacounty.gov.
