Coroner Identifies Man Found Dead Inside Cypress Home Following Fire

CYPRESS (CBSLA.com) — The Orange County coroner Sunday identified the man found dead inside a Cypress home after a fire was extinguished.

Steve Taylor, 20, of Long Beach was identified as the deceased.

Taylor  was involved in a brief standoff with Cypress police after they answered a call about a suspicious and shirtless man throwing a large butcher-style knife in a park.

When police arrived to the scene, witnesses said Taylor fled.

He broke into a home and before police could get him out, witnesses said  flames broke out at in the home -- located in the 11000 block of Panay Street -- just after 7:35 a.m.

The home's residents are reportedly vacationing in Europe, according to neighbors.

Police did not say if they recovered a knife out of the home.
