Pursuit Suspect Allegedly Hits More Than A Dozen Cars In Burbank

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a woman has been arrested after she allegedly struck more than a dozen vehicles in Burbank while reportedly leading authorities on a pursuit.

California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang told CBS2's Joy Benedict that an officer attempted a traffic stop of a red Dodge pickup truck on the 170 Freeway near Victory Boulevard at approximately 9:58 a.m. Saturday.

Rather than yielding, the vehicle reportedly exited at Burbank Boulevard and made a left turn. At that point, Tang says the driver began running red lights, driving recklessly, and a chase ensued.

Tang said the truck initially collided with a black Mercedes Benz at Cahuenga and Burbank boulevards but no one was hurt.

The vehicle then traveled eastbound on Burbank Boulevard where Tang said it plowed into four other cars at the intersection near Hollywood Way, causing minor injuries.

"Because of those collisions, the pickup truck lost control and then sideswiped approximately right now 10-plus vehicles," he said.

Preliminary information suggests that the driver is unlicensed, according to Tang who added that the woman did not appear to be driving under the influence.

Tang said the driver was expected to be booked on suspicion of failing to yield and reckless driving, among other charges.
