LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been named Friday as the host of the 2014 Academy Awards.
“I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say — the third time’s the charm,” DeGeneres said in a statement.

“Ellen’s kind of a traditional pick, not surprising, not kind of risk taking, but she will appeal to a broader audience,” Brian Steinberg, Variety’s Senior TV Editor, told KNX1070.
