Coyote Fatally Attacks Cat In Torrance

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Some Torrance residents are on edge after a coyote was spotted fatally attacking a cat.

Torrance real estate agent Steven Rime, who lives in the Hollywood Riviera neighborhood, says the coyote appeared to be around 80 pounds.

"It was upsetting. I thought about maybe going out there and taking care of it, maybe by getting my son's bat, or I guess that's a crazy thought," he told KNX1070's Megan Goldsby.

Rime reported Thursday's incident the coyote to animal control, which said that the creatures do come down from the hills in search of food.

Rime has now taken it upon himself to warn his neighbors.

"Bring your cats in. Don't feed them in the front yard. If you've got small dogs, make sure they're not easily accessible because these coyotes can go over fences of eight feet," he said.
