Woman Returns Home To Find Burglary Suspect Naked, Asleep On Her Couch

COVINA (CBSLA.com) —A 29-year-old burglary suspect was in custody Thursday after a woman returned home to find the naked intruder asleep on her couch.

Troy Milligan broke into a garage in the 400 block of North Glendora Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Covina police.

The female homeowner later returned to her residence and found Milligan taking a nap without any clothes on.

"It was a startling moment for both of them. And as she opened the garage door, he saw her, she saw him, he quickly put his clothes back on and walked away," Covina Police Department Sgt. Ray Marquez said.

Police say the man is a transient and broke into the garage through an unlocked gate and side door looking for things to sell. When he couldn't find anything, he decided to take a nap without his clothes on instead, according to Marquez.

"He stated that it was just a hot day and he was probably a lot cooler sleeping in the nude," the Sgt. said.

The woman called Covina police and followed the suspect in her vehicle until officers were able to arrest him a few blocks away.

Milligan is being held on suspicion of burglary at the Covina jail on a $50,000 bond.

Police say because he didn't take anything that charge could be dropped to trespassing.

Milligan is expected to be arraigned Friday at West Covina Superior Court.
