Residents Of Laguna Beach Warned To Lock Up Their Porsches

LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — The theft of two pricey vehicles in Laguna Beach has prompted a warning to residents by the police -- lock up your Porsches.

The cars, worth at least $50,000 each, were recently stolen suggesting the pricey cars are increasing targets.

A 1996 Porsche 911 worth about $55,000 was stolen from the 900 block of Canyon View Drive on June 6.

A month later, a 1997 Porsche 993 worth about $50,000 was stolen from the 700 block of Nyes Place, according to Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz.

Both of the pilfered Porsches had alarms and were parked on residential streets, Kravetz said.

Laguna Beach police reminded car owners to make sure their vehicles are locked and to park in a garage instead of on the street.

Also, Kravetz reminded, never leave the car running unattended.
