Man, 18, Charged With Assault To Commit Rape After Eastvale Home Break-In

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) —  An 18-year-old man suspected of trying to sexually assault a woman after breaking into an Eastvale home was charged Wednesday with assault to commit rape.

Isaac Darren Jenkins, of Eastvale, is accused of breaking into a house in the 7400 block of Carrollton Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. Monday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Manning told City News Service other residents awoke to the victim's screams and rushed to her aid.

The residents detained the intruder and called 911. Officers responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Jenkins was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.

He appeared at the Riverside Hall of Justice on assault to commit rape and was appointed a public defender during Wednesday's hearing.

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of six years in state prison.

Jenkins is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

His arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 14.
