The cub became trapped in an industrial trash bin around 10:30 p.m. Sunday at Highway 39 and Cogswekll Road, according to the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.
Video captured the mother bear desperately trying to figure out a way to open the trash bin, even trying with her teeth.
She then sat on top of it, looking around for another solution.
It almost appeared like the bear gave up, but she quickly circled back, grabbed the bin’s lock and shook it.READ MORE: Salami Product Sold At Trader Joe's Investigated In Salmonella Outbreak
Her other cub also tried to help, but to no avail.
Fish and Wildlife officers arrived to the scene and scared the mother and cub off in order to rescue the animal in distress.
“I was able to hit the lights and sirens, scared the bears away for a little bit . . . and could hear the other cub inside the dumpster, calling for its mother. I was able to open the lid quickly and back off and the cub climbed out,” Warden Adam Smith said.
The cub was reunited with its family after about 20 minutes in the container.MORE NEWS: Power Outage In Laguna Beach
