Woman Rescued From Rollover Crash That Sheared Off Fire Hydrant

GRIFFITH PARK (CBSLA.com) — A woman had to be rescued from her vehicle Sunday after it rolled over in Griffith Park and sheared off a fire hydrant.

A witness provided dramatic video of the aftermath of the crash to KCAL9. The video shows the car on its side with water shooting from the hydrant.

The driver was reportedly trapped in the car as it filled with water.

The accident was reported just before 9:15 p.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Crystal Springs Drive.

The fire department had to bust out the car's back window to extricate the woman, according to the witness.

Officials said the car apparently drove off an upper roadway, overturned and fell to a lower roadway.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The woman's condition is unknown.
