Carport Fire In El Monte Damages Several Vehicles

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — Several vehicles Sunday were damage when intense flames ripped through the carport of an apartment complex in El Monte.

Authorities said the fire in the 5300 block of Peck Road erupted at 4:35 a.m., but no one was injured.

A knock down was declared by 5:01 a.m.

At least two residents from a unit were displaced.

The fire also damaged at least six vehicles.

The cause of the blaze is unknown but one resident told CBS2 that investigators believe an engine in one of the cars caught fire and the flames spread to the other vehicles.
