2 Men Dead In Drive-By Shooting In Glassell Park

GLASSELL PARK (CBSLA.com) — Two men were killed Saturday in an early morning drive-by shooting in Glassell Park.

The shooting at Future Street and Cypress Avenue was reported to police at 3:30 a.m.

Authorities said a vehicle pulled up alongside a Ford SUV and opened fire.

Two men inside the Ford were struck by gunfire. A woman, identified as the girlfriend of one of the victims, jumped out of the car after the shooting.

She escaped with minor injuries from broken glass.

"We were coming home ... well to my boyfriend's house and a car pulled up and they shot us," Tiffany Lagunas said. "The driver, I guess, he's dead ... my boyfriend ... um ... I don't know. I think he's dead too."

Lagunas told CBS2's Joy Benedict that her boyfriend had recently turned 18.

The driver of the Ford drove about a half-mile before crashing on Cypress near Verdugo avenues.

Both men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department or CRIME STOPPERS at 1 (800) 222-TIPS.
