Police Pursuit Of Armed Robbery Suspects Ends In Gunfire In Reseda

RESEDA (CBSLA.com)  — A police pursuit of armed robbery suspects Monday ended in gunfire in Reseda.

The chase began in the 7300 block of Reseda Boulevard, near Sherman Way, with the robbery of a medical marijuana dispensary.

The suspects inside a black Escalade crashed into another car at the corner of Tampa Avenue and Strathern Street around 5 p.m.

One of the men then fired shots at officers, leaving a patrol car riddled with bullets. A cop suffered minor injuries.

One suspect was immediately apprehended, and another was detained for questioning. A third man fled the area.

Police set up a massive six-block perimeter for the search.

Residents were told to shelter in place.

"I called my wife and I told her, 'Just lock all the doors and keep an eye out in the backyard and if you see anyone who isn't a cop, call 911,'" said Daryt Frank.

The final suspect was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m.

"The suspect didn't want to be taken into custody and a K-9 ended up biting the suspect," said Deputy Chief Jorge Villegas of the Los Angeles Police Department. "We believe the suspect we have in custody now was involved in the pursuit, potentially involved in the robbery, as well as the shooting with our officers."

The investigation is ongoing.
