TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday said an explosion in a detached garage in Tustin critically burned two men.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Mitchell Avenue.

Kris Concepcion of the Orange County Fire Authority says a call of the blast came in at 12:02 p.m.

Concepcion told KNX 1070's Mike Landa that the bomb squad cleared the scene of any additional explosives. He said authorities suspected that the blast was caused by a possible drug lab.

A hazardous material team was expected to make sure there were no hazardous chemicals, according to Concepcion.

"From that point, we will turn it over to law enforcement to confirm our suspicions," he said.

A neighbor told Landa that after the explosion he witnessed a man come exit the garage, calling for help.

The two men were subsequently transported to UCI Medical Center for treatment.
