Keep Kids Busy This Summer With Ideas From Westside Nannies' Heather Rash!

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — School's out, so the kids are home!

Heather Rash of Westside Nannies stopped by KCAL9 Wednesday to show viewers easy craft and activity ideas to keep kids busy this summer — without breaking the bank!

Sock Bubble Craft Idea:

The mixture of construction and "bubble magic" makes this a great outdoor summer activity.

What you'll need:

  • Empty Water Bottle
  • Duct Tape
  • Sock (Find one that's missing its match!)
  • Dish Soap
  • Food Coloring
  • Scissors

How to assemble:

  • Cut the bottom off the water bottle
  • Place a sock over and duct tape or rubber band
  • Dip in a mixture of dish soap & water
  • Add food coloring to the sock to add color to the bubbles. Try a rainbow!

Veggie Stamps Idea:

What you'll need:

  • Acrylic or water-based paints
  • Paper plates
  • Sheet of butcher paper or newspaper
  • Assorted veggies: bell peppers, lettuce heads, apples work well

How to assemble:

  • Lay the paper out in the driveway and pour paints onto paper plates
  • Slice veggies length-wise; remove any seeds or stems
  • Dip vegetables, cut-side down, into paint; stamp onto paper
  • Use the completed paper to cover your picnic table or kid's meal table!
