Missing Laguna Beach Man, 87, Reunited With Family After 'Suspicious Call'

LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — An 87-year-old Laguna Beach man reported missing Tuesday has been reunited with his family.

Relatives were concerned after receiving a call from Joseph Marion Petrovich, who told family he was injured in a car accident while en route to visit his sister in Pomona Monday morning.

Investigators reported an unknown person interrupted the call and said the man was unharmed before hanging up the phone.

Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Kleiser told CBSLA.com family members called at approximately 6:40 p.m. Tuesday to say they had located Petrovich at a McDonald's in Pomona.

The man, who does not have a cell phone of his own, apparently got a flat tire on the way to visit his sister and slept in his car overnight.

Police are not aware of any collision involving the senior citizen.

No injuries were reported.
