App Lets Metro Riders Report Crime Directly To Sheriff's Deputies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A new smartphone app will make it easier for passengers on Metro buses and trains to report suspicious activity directly to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.

The LA Metro Transit Watch app will connect iPhone and Android users to the Sheriff's Transit Services Bureau with the push of a button, including allowing photos of incidents to be instantly downloaded to the Sheriff's dispatch center for analysis and action.

The app is described as "a quick, easy and an anonymous way for L.A. Metro transit riders to communicate directly to Metro Sheriffs about suspicious activity or quality of ride problems at a Metro station or while riding a bus or rail line."

Users can also receive alerts from various Metro services, along with rail, rail construction and Metrolink transit maps.
