Transient Arrested For Trying To Kidnap Girl From Arcadia Park

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — A kidnapping suspect is being held on $400,000 bail Monday after he was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 6-year-old girl from a San Gabriel Valley park.

Jason Macklin Dell, 33, was apprehended Sunday, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

According to authorities, the girl was playing with her friends a Arcadia Park, 405 South Santa Anita Avenue, around 3:35 p.m. when Dell grabbed her by the hand and began dragging her out of the park.

"The girl screamed and fought to get away from the man and was able to free herself after being pulled approximately one hundred feet," Deputy Johnie K. Jones said in a statement.

The girl ran to her mother who was nearby and told her what happened.

"The mother called 911 and then confronted Mr. Dell who was detained quickly by Arcadia Police Department personnel," Jones said.

The girl was not injured in the incident.

Dell, who authorities say is a transient, was arrested for kidnapping and annoying a child.
