Ontario Police Say 3 Women Were Intentionally Struck By Car

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said two men have been arrested after allegedly intentionally hitting three women with their vehicle in Ontario.

Ontario police said in a department statement the incident began as a fight between 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez of Hacienda Heights and his 19-year-old girlfriend.

Police say after the argument, Rodriguez got into the passenger side of a Honda Civic, allegedly driven by 19-year-old Isaac Casares of Ontario.

"As the car was leaving the area at a high rate of speed, the driver struck all three women in the middle of the roadway," Police Sgt. Jeff Higby told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz.

The three women, identified as a 38-year-old mother and her two daughters, were then struck by the car, police said.

Upon arriving on scene, police found the women in the street. Authorities say they were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The collision occurred about 12:10 a.m. in the 600 block of W. La Deney Drive.

Police say Casares was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI with injuries, felony hit-and-run, and assault with a deadly weapon-vehicle.

Mertz reports that Rodriguez was arrested but then released without charges.

No further information was immediately available.
