OC Sheriff's Deputies Nab 3 Burglary Suspects With Aerial Support

ORANGE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday said three burglary suspects were nabbed in the residential area of Foothill Ranch in part thanks to an aerial support unit dubbed "Duke."

The Orange County Sheriff's Department helicopter flew in just as undercover officers on the ground lost track of a suspicious looking vehicle, reported KNX 1070's Mike Landa.

"When Duke found the vehicle, they saw the two of the males that were in the vehicle walking out of a residence with armloads of loot and get into the vehicle," said Orange County sheriff's Lt. Steve Gil.

The men tried to get away but deputies say they were eventually captured.

Authorities say the suspects had hundreds of dollars worth of jewelry in their possession as well as valuable coins.

"Eyes in the sky are hard to get away from. And they had a wide field of vision," Gil added.
