Eastvale Family Devastated That Groomer Lost Their Dog

EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — An Eastvale family is devastated because they say a dog groomer has lost their pooch.

Andrea Baerga said she dropped her two dogs — Bodie and QTip — off for grooming Thursday at Doggy Paws in Norco.

Bodie, a 5-year-old toy poodle, has not been seen since.

CBS2's Greg Mills spoke to Baerga and the groomer who is also the store's co-owner.

"We pray every night," says Baerga. "We pray that he is some place safe ... that someone picked him up. We want him back."

Baerga said she and her husband called the groomer throughout the day looking for updates but that no one would answer the phone.

When they came to pick up the dogs at 5 p.m. she was told Bodie was gone — that he just disappeared.

The Baergas say they have many questions but have gotten few answers from the groomer and co-owner, Guy Guillen.

"We don't know what happened to the dog. We don't know where the dog is at. Sometime between the time we put the dog down and went to grab the dog, he was gone," Guillen said.

The Baergas say they have searched everywhere, passed out missing dog fliers, and a friend even made them a Facebook page.

Guillen thinks Bodie might have pushed his nose through an unlatched dog door and escaped out the front door when no one was looking.

This worries the Baergas because the store fronts up against Hamner Avenue, a busy four-lane street, and there are coyotes that roam the nearby hills at night.

"I'm worried about the coyotes," Baerga said.

Mills reports the family is considering legal action if Bodie is not returned to them, but they know that can be a costly and time-consuming proposition.
