$23K Wedding Ring Returned After Husband Accidentally Sells It For $5 At Garage Sale

LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBSLA.com) — Whether it was merely good luck or divine intervention, Racquel Cloutier is thankful that she has her $23,000 wedding ring back after her husband accidentally sold it at a garage sale – to the family of a local pastor.

Saddleback Valley Church minister Andrew Luco happened to be the person who bought the watch box put up for sale by Cloutier's husband, Eric, who didn't realize his wife had hidden her ring inside.

"We immediately emailed them and said, 'Hey, we have your ring. We want to make sure we get it back to you as soon as possible,'" Luco said.

The Lucos had the box for 11 days before discovering the ring Wednesday night, right about the same time the media began publicizing the story. The discovery was prompted by another misplaced item – car keys.

Racquel Cloutier says she had doubts the ring would come home.

"When it actually happened, its like, wow – what a story, you know. And who the ring was given to? You know, such great people. I mean, you couldn't ask for more honest people," Cloutier said. "I mean, its just like, you know – an act of God."
