CALABASAS (CBSLA.com) — A 25-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in a traffic collision in Calabasas Wednesday, authorities said.
Thomas Westerlund sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash on Las Virgenes Road, south of Thousand Oaks Boulevard, at approximately 1:35 p.m., when he collided with a pick-up truck whose driver was making a U-turn.
Westerlund was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, Sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Malibu/Lost Hills Station told City News Service.
The man driving the pick-up truck has been identified as 62-year-old local man Roy Post.
Post told deputies he was on the road facing south when he checked his mirrors and made the U-turn. He said he did not see the motorcyclist.
He has not been cited in Westerlund's death.
An investigation is ongoing.
