Sheriff's Go To Mother's Beach To Break Up Rowdy Crowd Of 200
MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — A large group, as many as 200 people, got into a rowdy altercation Sunday at Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey.
Authorities said no one was injured and no arrests were made.
The huge dust-up was reported around 6:07 p.m. near 4135 Admiralty Way as authorities received calls regarding a loud crowd gathering in the area, according to officials at the Marina del Rey sheriff's station.
The crowd reportedly showed up after a Twitter invite to a "Blankets and Bottles" party was sent out.
Sheriff's deputies -- many of them in riot gear -- described the scene as having a large number of unruly people, but order was restored by 7:06 p.m.
Reportedly at one point, a police helicopter overhead ordered people to get in their cars and disperse.
Sheriff's also downplayed an earlier report that said a huge brawl had broken out saying they encountered a party that just got out of hand.
