Teen Pleads Not Guilty To Stealing About $50K In Brass, Copper From Outside LA City Buildings

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — One of two teenagers accused of stealing about $50,000 in brass and copper from outside of numerous city buildings in Los Angeles pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Jose Alejandro Bonilla, 18, was charged with 14 counts of grand theft of personal property in connection to the alleged incidents, which reportedly happened between Feb. 1 and May 6.

Co-defendant Leeric Jones, 19, was charged with 12 counts of grand theft. He pleaded not guilty May 17.

If convicted, Bonilla faces up to 11 years and eight months in jail, while Jones faces up to 10 years and four months behind bars.

They're due back in court July 9.
