Sunday's UV Index To Reach Extreme Level
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The National Weather Service said the ultraviolet index in the Los Angeles area will reach an extreme level Sunday.
The UV exposure level, which is measured at noon when the sun is strongest, is slated to reach a level 11.
UV levels of 10 or greater mean that a fair-skinned person could sustain a sunburn in approximately four minutes if not protected against the sun.
Ultraviolet radiation is said to be behind a number of health problems, including skin cancer and eye damage.
