Home Depot Center Officially Becomes Stubhub Center

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Over 1,000 signs are starting to be replaced as the venue formerly known as The Home Depot Center, home to both the MLS Champion Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA, officially transitioned to it's new name, StubHub Center, on Saturday.

The announcement originally came on March 4 that StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, signed an agreement with AEG to take over as the new naming rights parter of the 125-acre sports facility.

The transition represents the first-ever naming rights partnership for the ticketing company.

Stubhub Center will remain an Officialy U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training sight, as well as a training center for the U.S. Soccer Federation, the United State Tennis Association, and USA Cycling, according to a statement.

Starting on Wednesday, June 19, when the Galaxy host the Portland Timbers in an MLS match, Stubhub Center will reveal new fan-friendly components, including a fan fest area, loacted in the venue's southwest plaza.

The partnership represents the first-ever agreement for a major ticketing company to add it's name to a public venue.

The facility originally opened June 1, 2003, as The Home Depot Center.
