Water Main Break In Hollywood Hills Floods Homes, Underground Garage

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A water main break in the Hollywood Hills has flooded multiple homes and an underground garage in the area, prompting road closures around North Cahuenga Blvd. near the 101 Freeway.

LAFD responded to Holly Drive near North Cahuenga, where an underground break was reported at around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

No injuries have been reported but officials say there were cars inside the garage when the flooding began.

Firefighters are on the scene using pumps to move water that rushed into homes and vehicles parked in the garage attached to a three-story apartment complex, where several units were also affected.

Officials say there is some concern about undermining the area beneath the homes that suffered damage. Those residences had been deemed safe at press time.

The flooding caused road closures on North Cahuenga Blvd. in both directions from Cahuenga Terrace to the 101 Freeway.

LAFD spokesperson Katherine Main told City News Service the water has been shut off.

The cause of the water main break remains under investigation. Main said the Department of Water and Power crews are working to correct the issue.
