Whittier Woman Gives Birth To 13-Pound Baby

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — A Whittier woman had a memorable Memorial day weekend when she gave birth late Friday to a 13-pound baby.

The baby — 13 pounds and 10 ounces to be exact — was born via C-section at Whittier Hospital Medical Center, located at 9080 Colima Road.

A spokesperson for the hospital says it's the biggest baby anyone can remember being delivered there — or anywhere for that matter.

The hospital said the mother and the baby (larger than the combined weight of newborn twins) were both resting comfortably.

The average baby is 7 pounds and 8 ounces at birth.

The mother was expected to take her baby home on Sunday.
