Disneyland Celebrates New 'Monsters University' Movie With 24-Hour Party

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com)  — The "Happiest Place On Earth" will be open for 24 hours Friday in celebration of Disney-Pixar's upcoming "Monsters University" movie.

Ticket sales began at 5 a.m. after hundreds of Disney fans camped out for hours in front of the park overnight Thursday in anticipation of the 24-hour "Monstrous Summer" event.

Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure Park, as well as the Magic Kingdom in Florida, will stay open from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. It's the first all-night opening for all three locations.

"From special entertainment and Monsters-themed merchandise to frightening food and boo-verages, this "All-Nighter" is sure to be one scary good time!" Disneyland executives said.

According to the Disney Parks web site, visitors will be able to enjoy live music, catch the Pixar Play Parade, dance and "party alongside some of your favorite Disney Characters".

Disney held a similar event in 2012 to celebrate the leap year.
