Disneyland Campout As Tens Of Thousands Expected To Attend 24-Hour Party

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Disneyland is giving people the chance to kick off the summer by partying with their favorite characters for a full 24 hours starting tomorrow at 6 a.m. and park visitors are already lining up for tickets to the all-nighter.

Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure Park will stay open from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

Executives at the Mouse House have dubbed the 24-hour event Monstrous Summer, with tens of thousands expected to attend.

KCAL9's Stacey Butler reports eager park visitors have lined up along Harbor Boulevard and will be allowed to camp out on Esplanade this evening.

Tanya Mickesh said she spent all day Thursday at Disneyland. She plans to return Friday morning for the event.

"Yep we'll be there. We're going to head in that direction and get ready to get in line," she said, adding that "people watching" is her favorite part of the late-night festivities.

According to the Disney Parks website, visitors will be able to enjoy live music, catch the Pixar Play Parade, dance and "party alongside some of your favorite Disney Characters".

Tickets can be purchased at 5 a.m. Friday. Season passes are also valid.

Police in the park plan to double their patrols throughout the event as a precaution. The city's traffic management center will be open for 48 hours to help prevent gridlock.

The Magic Kingdom Park in Florida is also participating.

Disney did something similar in 2012 to celebrate the leap year.
