Public's Help Sought In Identifying Hotel Theft Suspects

Commercial Burglary Suspects Captured on Tape NR13167rl by Los Angeles Police Department on YouTube

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Wednesday in identifying three commercial thefts suspects who have been caught on tape hitting area hotels.

At least six burglaries have taken place in recent weeks at downtown and Los Angeles airport hotels, including three times at the Crown Plaza airport hotel, Det. Carlos Lamas said.

During the crimes, two or three suspects have been recorded on surveillance entering the hotels through the lobby or dinning area between 8 and 11 a.m.

"One of the suspects creates a distraction with the victims while an additional suspect takes the victim's property and flees the locations in a getaway vehicle," Det. Lamas said.

Authorities believe the suspects, described as male and female Hispanics in their late 30s or early 40s, are targeting tourists.

The same group may have also be linked to similar thefts in the South Bay, according to Lamas.

Anyone with information on the crimes or the suspects should call Det. Llamas, (213) 486-7367, or the Major Crimes Division/Criminal Investigation Section at (213) 486-7220.
