Police Searching Backyard Of Glendora Home In Cold Case Investigation

GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County investigators and a coroner were digging in the backyard of a Glendora home Wednesday in connection to a decades-old cold case of a missing woman.

Wendy Byron was 24 when she was reported missing in 1978.

Authorities are searching a location at the 500 block of Essex St. in Glendora for any evidence that could be connected to the cold case.

Byron was living at the residence with her husband at the time she went missing.

Margie Green did business with Byron's husband during that time. She said he told her about his wife's disappearance.

"He came home and she wasn't there, they'd had a slight disagreement in the morning so he didn't get too upset about her being gone for awhile," said Green.

"I just know he worked hard with the family trying to find her, trying to find out what happened."

Detectives said she was reported missing by her family but did not have additional details about her disappearance.

Her disappearance was listed as suspicious at the time, but there are no suspects.

Authorities did not share any details of what triggered the dig Wednesday.

"It always surprised me that something had happened, I didn't know what," said Green. "Of course we still don't."

Glendora Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies were at the scene, which was sealed off with crime tape and had a guard posted.
