Body Found In San Bernardino Mountains Identified As Missing Hiker

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Coroner investigators confirmed Wednesday the identity of a body found in the San Bernardino Mountains over the weekend.

Officials said 59-year-old Karen Dalman's body was identified through fingerprints.

Dalman and her friend, 56-year-old Bruce Jackson, set out for a day hike on May 14 in the Crystal Mountain area.

According to Jackson, Dalman was not feeling well, and they were headed back to the car when Jackson's dog ran off.

The two then reportedly got separated. Jackson found his way back to his car on May 16 and immediately reported Dalman missing, officials said.

A search and rescue operation went into effect Thursday morning. On Saturday afternoon, ground search members located the body approximately one mile from where the search began.

The coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
