Temecula Man, 65, Dies 2 Days After Murdering His Wife

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) —  The Temecula man who killed his wife Thursday before turning the gun on himself died Saturday, according to officials.

John Leonard Houston, 65, died at 6:10 p.m. at a hospital, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Tyson Voss said.

Houston killed his wife Dana, 51, in their Del Rey Road home, before shooting himself, officials said.

Sheriff's deputies received a call shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday about an assault with a deadly weapon at a home in the 30000 block of Del Rey Road.

Deputies surrounded the home and tried several times to get Houston to come out.  Officials ultimately stormed the house and found the wife dead from several gunshot wounds.

The suspect was also found with a self-inflicted wound, sheriff's Lt. Joe Borja reported.

Houston was taken the hospital in critical condition.

There were no other suspects involved.
